Kāʻanapali Beach

Sunlit Shores, Aquamarine Waters, and Endless Possibilities

Kāʻanapali Beach is one of Maui’s most treasured coastlines and for good reason. Known for its walkable shoreline and calm glimmering surface, the vibe here is whatever you make it. Start the day with a morning stroll to catch an iconic Hawaiian sunrise, take to the waters to experience its magic or there’s always the tried and true classic: soaking in the sunshine with a good book in hand. The scenic walk opens up to ocean views, charming boutique shops, local gems, and open-air dining along the way.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Snorkeling

Glide across calm waters on a stand-up paddleboard or peek beneath the ocean’s surface to explore Maui’s marine life. Black Rock Beach is an anchor spot for both activities, with gentle conditions and a colorful underwater world. For a bigger thrill, kayaking and surfing are where it’s at. Stop in at the Beach Shack at Aston Maui Kāʻanapali Villas, where you can rent everything from paddle boards, kayaks, boogie boards and snorkel gear to umbrellas, chairs, and shaded cabanas.

Whale Watching

From December to April, humpback whales return to Maui’s warm waters from Alaska, and you guessed it, Kāʻanapali Beach offers front-row seats. Watch from the shore or join a guided boat tour for an up-close look at these majestic creatures as they play and swim with their pods. If you’re lucky, you may spot mischievous calves learning the ropes from mom.

Parasailing and Jet Skiing

When whale season winds down, the skies open up for parasailing. Soar above the coastline for panoramic views of the island, with tandem and group options available. Summer also brings jet skiing to Kāʻanapali—one of the few places on Maui where it’s offered, kids can hitch on with adults!

Scuba and Snuba

For deeper exploration, try scuba diving or snuba, a hybrid of snorkeling and scuba that’s perfect for families and first-timers. The best part? No certification needed, just a sense of adventure and a love for the ocean.
